Kite City gets KFC!
We waited and waited, months of watching the sign, mouth foaming and desperate for something new,
then suddenly, BANG... Christmas Day... K-F-C baby!
Kite City had finally arrived.
It's a new world when you go from a city that only has Indian food options all the way to KFC.
Ordering still felt very Indian... fighting through the "line".
It was so delectable to finally get a great chicken meal.
Who would have thought?
It was the perfect Christmas gift!
Something for everyone, wings for Dad, white meat for Mom,
and strips for Elijah... Yum!
It was all a little spicy, but it was So tasty.
Elijah loved going to pick it up and did a great job eating it too.
New Years day we went back for more...
a party with Em, Neal's language helper.
It was Em's 1st KFC.
Needless to say, he loved it!

The Indian Fair
Get ready!!!
If you have ever been to the fair in the states, you know what a wild idea this can be...
filling people up with all kinds of crazy sweets and fried food and asking them to get on portable rides that are the most dangerously old working machines in the world, try imaging how much wilder and crazier it could get in India!
You guessed it... alot wilder!
First of all you have to fight through really dangerous traffic just to get there.
At one point I was sitting on the train tracks waiting for the line of traffic to move in order to get there.

Our family photo at the entrance (yes dated).
Normal looking fair, but the ferris wheel was like 20 mph! It made me feel sick... :(
This is the most awesome part of the Indian park ever, Mot ca Khouah (the WELL of DEATH!!!). Could they have come up with a more awesome name!?
This is actually a sideways photo, they were driving ON the WALL!
This is what we really saw. Yes, the guys on the right are driving and holding hands
(OVER THE CAR!)
Who said that dare devils are all American? No there are Indian versions too!
The elephant was tired of the cage, so they took it on a walk...
ON the TRAFIC filled STREET!
Proof that traffic laws in this city are a joke.
The closest that I have been to a gun in this country...
not a bad shot! :)
Yes I am holding back tears and sickness as my insides turn!
SLOW it DOWN! GOSH!
Did I mention that they also drove motorcycles?
There is not an experience quite like this one anywhere!
I know... I just have to load a video soon.
Me and the guys, what a good fun day!
It made me feel like I was closer to home...
reminded me of the good ol' days of the NC State Fair.

Reflecting on Leaving Saj and Looking Ahead
It's hard to believe that the going to Kite City, as well as the coming back has already happened. Two years has flown. There were moments that seemed to last a life time, and others that flew by way to fast. As I sit here in my parents sunroom it's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that what we prepared for, learned about, poured our lives into, spent hours of prayer over is now life passed. Not that I won't continue to pray or keep in contact with the friends we made, but it's like the life that was so anticipated for, and then lived in went by in a flash and it seems surreal.
Reflecting on my time in Kite City is something Neal and I do often. When I look back I think about friends that I won't live with again, both American and Indian, and it makes my heart sad. I wish I could take those people with me when we return to Garden City, India.
My dearest local friend was no doubt Saj. I'd love to have her move to Garden City and continue to come to my house everyday. (I pray for a woman to help me clean my house that's just as dear to me as she was. A woman just as ready for the Good News as Saj.) I've been blessed beyond measure through that woman over the last two years. She gave her all serving and loving my family. When I left with the kids to head to Delhi the day the movers came, it was hard to let go of her embrace. We both wept. She not only clung to me, but to Elise's hand as well. Once in the car she stood at the windows to wave and watched as we drove down the street out of sight.
It sounds terrible, but I didn't grieve leaving then. Neal and I were under more stress than we'd ever been before and we were just ready for it to be over. Yes it was hard saying goodbye knowing it was possibly forever (hopefully not, but possibly). But I longed for the tension to leave and as well to see my family again. I think it will hit when I'm living in Garden City and praying for and trying to find new friends and a woman to clean.
Sometimes I think the enemy enjoys planting lies into my heart that God won't bless us again the way He did before. I know this isn't true, but it's a battle within that I face often.
I am excited about the future and finding a new home, new friends, new ready people, etc. As well I look forward to the news that my prayers for Saj and her family have come into fruition and they will be with me forever before the throne.

Christmas Dinner at Neal's Friend's House
Elijah always enjoys going to visit people, especially exploring new places such as every room, climbing the stairs to go to the roof, etc. He doesn't like to sit much these days...unless he's watching something. So, whenever the food is being served, or we're wanting to have conversations Neal's been letting Elijah watch a movie on his phone, as you can see in the picture.
Elise, on the other hand, is obviously not yet running around, and therefore enjoys being held and playing with people. She's always my happy girl!
She will go to just about anyone...and always show them affection. (She's with one of Em's brothers in the picture.) Everyone has welcomed our new little girl with such love and we're so thankful to God!
Em's mom was so sweet to make some great biriani for us, which I was thankful for because that's one of the few Indian foods I like. She also made the famous Eid dessert for us because that's the dessert they have for their holiday, so she made it special for ours. They're a precious family. We felt so blessed and honored to be in their home.
